RURAL ASSET TICKETING (RAT) PROGRAM CELEBRATION MARCH 17, 2011

This program was to celebrate the R.A.T. recipients and was sponsored by the Youth Action Committee, as a way of boosting spirits in the Community.- a pot luck supper and dance were held at the hall. RAT recipients were ticketed for doing a kind deed for someone.
If someone saw someone doing a good deed , he or she would give that person a 'ticket'; then in turn that person was supposed to find someone else doing a good deed and pass it on.
The time period for this was during a significant snowfall and so there were many nominations to people for pushing someone out of the snow that were stuck. One teacher was nominated for a creative consequence; instead of punishment, she asked eveyone
in the class say something good about the person next to them.
Unfortunately people didn't realize what it was about and there wasn't a very good turnout at the supper.
ROYALE BALL APRIL 1, 2011
Mortlach Memorial Hall was packed with princes and princesses on Friday, April 1st for the first Royale Ball. Aside from providing a memorable night for young girls and boys, the funds raised were for the rink.

The evening started with tiny cupcakes and cookies served with punch. The children were able to take part in several different activities throughout the night including story time, playing in the castle, and dancing to their hearts content.
Ayla Rogers won the Door Prize of a Tea Party for 4 little girls donated by the Country Garden Tea House, and there were many other door prizes. The Parkland Kinsmen and Kinettes gave every child a gift as they left the Hall. Photos by Marilyn Forbes
