Movie made in Mortlach : Conquest In 1998, a movie was filmed in Mortlach called " Conquest" by Heartland Motion Pictures. It won the 1998 Atlantic Film Festival award for "Best Canadian Feature Film" and in 1999, Monique Mercure won a Genie for "Best Performance by an actress in a Supporting Role." The movie starred  Lothaire Bluteau and Tara Fitzgerald. There is a video copy at the Mortlach Library branch but you will need a VCR to watch it. The scenery and setting is spectacular (Of course!); the sets that were made to 'depress' the town were well done. Some local people were in the film (not the two naked men though... :)   )
