Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 301
The resident members attend the Legion Branch which is located in the hamlet of Caron. The Branch opened in 1946, and the building is the former RAF jail which was located at Caronport during WW II. The Legion supports several organizations within the Village of Mortlach, such as : the school, the rink, the, wellness clinic, the drop-in centre, the library, the golf course, and Vimy Park. The Caron Legion has given financial support to our needy Mortlach veterans and other Mortlach families who require support in trying times.
The Branch membership is about 46 and the annual fees are $40.00 - membership is open to anyone over 18, who believes in the aims and purposes of the Legion (you do not have to be a veteran, or related to a veteran). Our president is Dorothy Benell at 756-2386, the secretary is Bernice Crosbie at 694-1576, and the membership chairman is Joe Campbell at 355-2224. The Legion meets every 4th Tuesday of each month and the Branch often holds suppers to raise money.
