I just finished checking the web site again, I loved the new photos. Hopefully I'll be back for the Saskatoon Berry Festival again this year, one thing would be great, to actually have some of the berries, when I was there in 2009, I didnt get to eat one single berry.... anyway friends in Toronto and where I work have never heard of Saskatoon berries and they all thought I was nuts, maybe this year I can actually bring some back to Ontario and let them see I haven't totally lost my marbles. Again great job with your web site. Maureen.

Yesterday while I was reading a moving testament to the life of Jack Poole in the National Post, the driving force behind the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, there was a late reference to how he was born in Mortlatch Sask. during the depression, and all of the suddenly I had this warm feeling and a sense of deeper understanding of the man, who I had met twice briefly during my career in real estate.

Mortlatch is a small village, a few kilometers of the Transcanada Highway, that few will ever have heard of, let alone visited. I had the good fortune of staying there one night, on my bicycle ride from Vancouver to Regina. There was a fine corner room on top of the only real restaurant in town where I had a huge daily special and then hung out with the locals at the back of the icecream and candy store, where the generations mixed, the old timers spoke of the years when the village was growing, some recounted its decline and then there were the young newly arrived couples with children who contributed to the rapid rejuvenation of the village such that it now numbers several hundred and the anticipation of the tea shop that will soon open. In Mortlach a fine mansion can still be had for the price of a couple of parking spots in Toronto and the sense of community comes free.

When I did a bit more digging, I found that the Globe& Mail called their piece The Kid from Mortlatch was one of a kind. The same can be said of Mortlatch.

Thank you for having enabled us Jack W. Poole! We have lost a great Canadian and beliefing mobiliser for the Olympic movement and hence Vancouver 2010. His iron will and iron spirit made him an Iron Olympian. Thanks to you and your ways have you brought Canada and thus the world an immortal servant now living in the eternal pantheon of the Olympic movement. Warmest regards to all of you, Alex Alexander

Well first of all Hello to everyone. I have to say that a part of me is very jealous that Bob is back there at Wagons West Cookhouse with out me. Your new website looks fabulous and I can't believe how much the Village looks like it has changed since I was last there. I am hoping to visit in the fall when the Dog trials are on.

Take Care.

You're welcome Uilliam! It was good of you good fellows (and Ladies) to give so much of your time and expertise. I am sure I speak for most of the attendees, that you are all very much appreciated, and as indicated by the (Lord) Mayor, this is a place your organization can now call "home". We look forward to your next visit, and I can only encourage those who missed this fabulous event, to ensure that they partake of the next one. Regards Roanin Son of Erin

Thank you for having us.
