"MORTLACH COTEAU FILM FEST"

  Finalists in  each category will be shown all day and winners will awarded their prizes at 9pm at the band stage.

$200 prizes for each category! Theme: "Prairie Passion"

Also showing at 3pm, 4pm, 5 pm  and 6 pm; SCN Documentary called "Late Harvest" by film makerJared Lorenz (he has local roots)- an excellent documentary and representation of farmers of our region via the eyes of one farmer's son (who prefers to live in the city). Features some special Mortlach people (including Old Time Mortlach Fiddler Vernon Rowe) and families. If you would  like an inside look at  farming today in our region -  and the winds of change-  (where do we choose to grow now?) please take in this excellent documentary. Copies will be avaiable for sale if you would rather watch it at home!

8:00 am: Admission gates open; Pancake breakfast 8 - 10 am; Music entertainment starts at the band stand which is beside the pancake breakfast tables...; Beach volleyball tournament starts south of museum
 
9:00 am: See the 5 minute film clips that have been spliced together at the Mortlach Coteau Film Festival; Children's activities; facepainting and Bimbo the clown is around with invisible dog... Vendors and exhibits are now open and ready to meet you all day till 7pm.
 
10:00 am: Food vendors and restaurants - WagonsWest, KJ's and the Tea House are open at 8am; Some vendors are open at 9am and the rest will be ready to serve by 10 am. You will be able to eat pie and berries all day - and take some home. All day also there are Saskatoon berry sausages to sample, Saskatoon berry Bison Beards (like a large flat donut), Saskatoon berry ice cream, Saskatoon berry iced tea... Saskatoon berry jams, vinegars and preserves to take home...
A great time to find a washroom (see program for map) and listen to some music, or check out some exhibits (some examples- our little Saskatechwan Burrowing owl, or some art , crafts... or info on Riverhurst Regional Park , or flax, honey... see the Saskatoon berry harvesting equipment until the.....
 
11:00 am ....Parade starts; including the Moose Jaw White Hackle Pipe Bnad; maybe a fly-by by a Hawk from our airforce base and many others!
 
12:00 noon: Opening Ceremonies including address from the Mayor Ron Locke; First Nation Elder blessing and dancers; Celtic dancing and music; Haywagon ride starts at the arena agricultural area and runs down main street to the Antique Machinery Park until 6pm- by donation; Lyle Stewart address
              
 
1:00 pm: Children's music at the Band Stand by Jimi Maze

 1:30 pm: A representative from the Saskatchewan Motion Picture Industry Association (SMPIA) will be speaking about career opportunities in the industry during the afternoon;
Afternoon activities at the riding arena, learn about the MRAA, see colt training and riding lesson demos; also in the agricultural area, see the displays on SPIN Farming, Saskatoon berry education and Sask Fruit info. Buy local meat (including the premiering of West Bridgeford Meats' Saskatoon berry sausages), honey, flax...
 
2:00 pm Food Demonstration by CJ Katz from the CTV Wheatland Cafe and Savourlife.ca; Take in the riding lesson at the arena by Allan Bakke; The lesson format is titled " Thanks For The Ride " . Allan's approach is based on respect between rider and horse, teaching the right response through a series of exercises on both the ground  and while riding. 
 
Children's Activity area in the shady area of Vimy Park will begin. There are Play Leaders for kids activities that include Bouncy Castle. Parachute, bean bag toss, sponge toss, ball-in-hoop, facepainting and Bimbo the clown will be tying animal balloons!

5:00 pm Kinsmen Supper (Beef on a Bun) starts 5:00- 7:00pm:   Two hours left until the vendors and exhibitors pack up...so make sure you pick up what you want before 7pm... Last Best West has old west posters and info on their exclusive custom made cowboy hats.; Take in SCN Documentary "Late Harvest" by film maker Jared Lorenz  (local roots)

7:00 pm Movie for kids to 9pm at the Community Hall; Featuring"Horton Hears a Who!" a great way to unwind from the excitement of the day. $7 includes admission, small popcorn & drink; a 3D 3 foot tall Horton movie poster will be raffled off too!

8:00 pm   Enjoy the great music that has continued all day...
 
9:00 pm Winners of the Mortlach Coteau Film Festival will be announced and $200 prizes awarded.  Miscellaneous prizes to be awarded from the draw of completed 'passports' submitted including a camera, sweets in a basket, Pepsi and Great Western B rewing prizes and much more! Band Stand starts the evening 'show'.
 
12:00 midnight. Music at the Band Stand comes to a close
