April 24, 2008

o School reviewed the bullying bag – Tim decided to continue with the material he already had.

o Community Development –Ron
o May 10 – Wine tasting night and gourmet recipe night Saskatoon Berry entrée.
o June 14th garage sale “Shop, Swap & Save”– volunteer round up following the garage sale.
o July 5 Berry Festival – need everyone out helping! A list of tasks will be developed.
o Berry Festival 0800 – 2400hrs. – Will need volunteers – 6 musical performers booked to play throughout the day.
o May 17th perennial exchange 12:00 – 4:00pm– at the Crocus Ridge Gallery.
o
o Village Council –Ron
o All houses in Mortlach have sold.
o Community Planning needs to be approved prior to the development of the new lots, houses as well as the trailer factory.
o Signed up to be competitive in the Communities in Bloom. Derelict vehicles are to be removed or there will be a fine implemented if not removed.

o Seniors – Erika
o Regular meetings and potlucks continuing
o Wellness Clinic continuing 1st Tuesday of the month. Not as private of a room any more as the library now open that day/time as well.

o Rink board – Colleen
o Bottle drive was successful raising $1,100.00.

o School Community Council – Colleen
o No meeting held in April.
o Colleen will get Krista and Kathy on the agenda for the next meeting to talk to the council about Developmental Assets.

o Complaints of kids running around town – Diane has now changed the rule to if you come in; you can’t go out then back in to drop in.
o Discussion: Could there be more organized activities? How can this be supported?

o An increase of .5 teacher position
o Fuel tanks need to be moved as the land has been sold. Bob Reid will be coming out to meet with the RM regarding possible new location.

o Regional Update – Kathy Knudson
o Introduction to Tool Kit – Colleen will take for review and then pass along to other committee members for their review.
o Krista and Penny attended a community town hall meeting in Central Butte to speak about the work this committee has been doing. The community is now planning events similar to the Family, Fun and Food Fridays!

o United Church Youth Group – no report available

o Student/Youth – no report available
o
o Mortlach Riding Arena Association – Krista Bakke
o May 3 Kick Off 1:00 – 4:00 MRAA. Helmet fitting, cake cutting, meet & greet, Sparky demonstration, orientation of MRAA
o Sask. Horse Federation will be there to answer questions around insurance. Have received a $1000 grant for helmets – purchase of helmets will be subsidized.
o 2 horses purchased and are now in the pasture.

o Wellness Wagon – Ron & Colleen
o 5 out of 8 are completed.
o Increased attendance this year.
o Registrations are not being sent in yet the attendance is good.

o Community Coordinator - Colleen Campbell
o SCRAPA funding for play leader (60 hours) and for special events play leader for the Berry Festival. – so far only one person has expressed interest. Training is in Bethune – must be 15 by May31st.
o Colleen checked with the archery instructors in MJ. They still do not have any equipment – we would have to get the equipment from Saskatoon.
o 70 people at FFFN. Noted that not many kids liked ham & pineapple pizza. Pizza is still seen as a positive bonus for the night.
o Still have quite a few kids that were dropped off. Continue to promote these nights as family.
o All of the follow up reports have been submitted. One of the reports was deficient but we do not yet know what needs to be corrected. To date we do not know about further funding.
o
o Miscellaneous
o Population Health Promotion money needs to be reported on with receipts. Colleen will ensure each group will follow the guidelines outlined in the proposal.
o 14-18yr old youth group. Grade 12’s were approached by a peer to see if there was interest. Feedback was that they really miss the group that the Cook’s had started. They want flexibility, when, where, what, etc. Shane Bakke and Justin Legal will start off leading the group. They will be given a $30 honorarium for an evening activity minimum of 3 hours. They will need make a plan and invite everyone.
o Next grant is for the drop in and to be completed by June 1st.

o Bullying Bag – Krista
o Violence prevention group put together a bullying prevention kit. Video, book, family pledge, information, games, geared at the elementary age.
o Available for borrowing – Could Diane possibly use this in the drop in? Krista will deliver this to Diane as well as the library.

o Colleen could meet with the various groups and discuss funding coordination and awareness of the coordination for each committee.
o Each committee member has a responsibility to report the minutes to the group they are representing and ensuring that communication flows and continues.
